Based on the information you provided in the Pre-qualification survey, you may be eligible to receive assistance with your housing costs and we need additional information to complete the review.

IMPORTANT: You will be receiving an email from an nd.gov email address that contains a link with an “invitation to upload”. If you do not see the email in your email inbox within 24 hours, make sure to check your junk mail.

 
Next Steps
  1. For your application for rental assistance to be complete, you must upload the required documents using the link that is in the “invitation to upload” email you will receive from an nd.gov email address.

  2. The documents we need to review include:
    1. A copy of your lease.
    2. A copy of any past due utilities.
    3. A copy of your government issued photo identification.
    4. A copy of any unemployment benefit information you may have for any member of your household who has qualified for unemployment for any period of time since March 13, 2020.
    5. Proof of income, either monthly or yearly:
      1. Monthly-the last 4 weeks of pay information for every employed member of the household member age 18+.
      2. Yearly-tax information from 2020 for each household member age 18+ that demonstrates a reduction in income (W-2's, 1099’s or 2020 income tax return documents).
    6. If you have qaulified for TANF, SNAP, LIHEAP, Supplemental Security Income, EIC, Headstart or Child Care Assistance on or after January 1st, 2020, upload a copy of the determination letter from that program (s).

  3. Your property manager or landlord needs your confirmation number so make sure to provide a copy of this “confirmation screen” to your property manager.

  4. Respond quickly to any additional requests for information from ND Rent Help staff.
 

Once we have all of the information that is required, we will do our best to process your application and issue payment to your property manager on your behalf within 15 -30 days.

 
If you are approved

NOTE: If you are approved for the ND Rent Help the rent assistance will be paid directly to your housing provider.

 

Assistance can be available for up to 12 months, based on your individual situation.

 
ACTION STEP: HOUSING PROVIDER MUST REGISTER TO RECEIVE PAYMENT

To register as a North Dakota government vendor go to https://www.nd.gov/omb/vendor/vendor-payments. Once there, select “new supplier registration” to begin the registration process. The “supplier” should be the entity that will receive the rent payment for this unit.
